Having survived the first summoning of his sentence, Lesley discovers where he'll be staying: Coppertown. Its residents take the time to welcome him.

Lesley finds himself in the debt of an ogre named Daiki, who helps him take stock of the predicament he's in. Daiki's generosity comes with a proposal.

A new summon presents itself to the witch's war: Libertus Rubedo. They greet a new master, and learn the anticlimactic conclusion of an old one.

Lesley and Daiki's new partnership has not gone unnoticed to residents of Coppertown. They question Daiki's judgment, and Lesley questions his own.

Cam calls on Libertus Rubedo in a panic, throwing the duo into a surprise battle with another summon — whose master is mysteriously absent.
